oh what fun to listen to again. Brings back so many childhood memories at Grandma and Grandpa's house.
This is a great Christmas DVD with all of the favored songs from my childhood. My kids thought the songs were all terrific.
Just like I heard many years ago when my children were little. Super songs, super price, Super speedy delivery.
This is what Christmas sounds like to me (along with Vince Guaraldi/Charlie Brown), so much better than the pop-crud artists are putting out now. If you grew up pre-90's you'll like it, if you are younger, give it a try and enjoy music that isn't over-synthesized and gyrating to sequins and sub-woofers with their "voice-exercises".
These songs also bring back great memories for me when I first heard them many years ago on a vinyl record album. The chorus always makes this song sound so fresh and new with their energetic performance. "White Christmas" is a somewhat melancholy ballad that the chorus delivers with panache. Great. "The Twelve Days of Christmas" features the chorus squarely front and center--which is quite all right by me. "Frosty The Snowman" is cute; and I really like "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" has Mitch's chorus singing at their very best; they harmonize faultlessly and their excellent diction enhances their performance all the more."Sleigh Ride" is another upbeat classic that is also very catchy; and "Must Be Santa" has great percussion as children join the chorus to make this number shine.
Listen also for "The Christmas Song" written by Mel Tormé and Bob Wells. "The Christmas Song" is performed to perfection--and beyond; Mitch and his chorus outdo even themselves on "The Christmas Song." "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" charms me with its natural beauty; this fun tune appeals to both children and the child within ourselves. Mitch Miller's ability to give us timeless, beautiful holiday music is showcased on this CD; the chorus on this album sings these songs and ballads with panache. "Deck The Hall with Boughs of Holly" has some ladies joining the male chorus for an excellent effect; and the percussion rounds out the arrangement very nicely. Let It Snow." is yet another endearing classic that I always love to hear when these fine performers do it. These performers really throw themselves into their artistry and it shows every time you hear them sing."Silver Bells" and "Jingle Bells" are equally special; and the music that plays fits in perfectly with their vocals. "Silent Night" is done with great sensitivity; and the album ends very well with the chorus performing "Auld Lang Syne." Terrific.Mitch Miller and his chorus make these songs sound like a symphony; everyone involved here does great justice to this music.
"Winter Wonderland" has that romantic quality that will keep it a classic forever; and "Let It Snow. The quality of the sound on this CD is excellent and that artwork is nicely done."Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" starts the CD with a fun, playful, endearing classic; this secular tune gets a fantastic arrangement and it is a fine way to begin the album. The musical arrangement for "White Christmas" is just right but wisely the musicians never try to steal the show away from the vocalists; you can easily hear what they're singing. They handle complicated tempo and key modulations like pros and that's impressive. Let It Snow. The CD also has three bonus tracks. I highly recommend this album for anyone who wants a special holiday CD to add to their collection.
